Position Summary: 

Serves as the on-shift lead for the Emergency Department Patient Access team, providing real-time guidance, workflow oversight, and operational support to ED Patient Access Specialists. Acts as the primary point of contact for staff questions, escalated patient concerns, and shift-level operational issues in the absence of or in coordination with the ED Supervisor. Monitors registration workflow and patient throughput in real time, identifying and addressing bottlenecks to maintain efficient ED patient flow. Provides immediate support to Specialists when complex registration, insurance, or compliance situations arise. Assists in onboarding and training of new ED Patient Access staff, serving as a subject matter expert for ED-specific registration processes, documentation requirements, and payer guidelines. Responsible for promoting teamwork with all members of the healthcare team. Performs duties in a manner consistent with St. Luke’s mission and values.   

 

Education, Experience, & Licensing Requirements:   

Education: Associate Degree or equivalent work experience required 

Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of Patient Access experience required; ED registration experience strongly preferred. Prior experience in a Senior Patient Access or lead capacity preferred.
